IVA Updates By-Laws
26th March 2026
The Institute of Veterans’ Advocacy (IVA) has updated its By-Laws to enable members of professions associated with veterans' advocacy to become members.
This new category of membership is open to a person who holds a recognised professional qualification relevant to veteran welfare, compensation, or legal representation including law, psychology, social work, rehabilitation, or other allied professions.
Professional Members will not be IVA Accredited Advocates and will not be listed on the Register of Members as accredited advocates, rather they will be listed by their Profession.
“Based on feedback we have received from various professions, we wanted to extend our membership to include these professions,” Chair, Michael von Berg MC OAM said, “the Board acknowledges that veterans' advocacy involves an ecosystem of providers and we welcome applications from professionals who would like to be a part of the IVA”.
The IVA Board has temporarily paused accepting membership applications in order to make improvements to the application process and expects applications to re-open in the coming weeks.
"We look forward to welcoming members to the IVA and hearing their views and understanding how we can support all of our members", Mr von Verg said, "these are exciting times for the IVA as we commence operations".
